In August 1945, the US used atomic bombs on Japan, killing over 100,000 people. Truman didn't actually see the petition before he ordered the bombs to drop, according to the Atomic Heritage Foundation. The liberation of the atomic power which has been achieved places atomic bombs in the hands of the Army. All the resources of the United States, moral and material, may have to be mobilized to prevent the advent of such a world situation.

Mondays in the office could be "dead forever," one of New York's biggest landlords says. One of New York's biggest private landlords, Vornado Realty Trust, is betting on hybrid work being here to stay. The firm's chairman, Steven Roth, told investors recently that office work on Fridays is likely "dead forever." Office visits on Mondays and Fridays, however, remain just half of what they were in 2019, according to the report. The current push toward hybrid work comes as some companies are doubling down on employees returning to the office.

FollowMarch 21 (Reuters) - Potentially deadly fungal infections with Candida auris are spreading rapidly in U.S. healthcare facilities, with cases nearly doubling between 2020 and 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. A high fever with chills that does not get better after taking antibiotics may be a sign of Candida auris infection. The CDC noted that spread of the infections in 2021 may have been exacerbated as the healthcare system was hit by pandemic-related stressors, such as staff and equipment shortages. Other countries have also reported increased spread of the fungus, the researchers said. The report — published on Wednesday — is based on data from nearly 600 counties in the US. Nine counties around New York City were included in the top 50 most vulnerable. ATTOM spokesperson says a recession seems 'more likely' than getting inflation under control. On Wednesday, real estate data company, ATTOM Data Solutions, published its Special Housing Risk Report for the second quarter of 2022. The report listed nearly 600 US counties vulnerable to value decline, based on "home affordability, underwater mortgages, foreclosures and unemployment," the report says.
